THE LASH procedure

When booking your lash appointment, allow yourself 1.5 - 2 hours, depending on which type of lashes you’re getting and the condition of your natural lashes. Applying eyelash extensions is a very precise and time-consuming task, so correct application can take some time. For a classic individual set of lashes, it can take anywhere between 40 mins - 1.5 hours. This varies depending on how many natural lashes a client has, the condition of the natural lash and how long the cleansing process takes. For a hybrid or volume set of extensions, it can take anywhere from 1 - 2 hours depending on how many lashes are applied and the “fullness” being achieved.

During the procedure you will be lying down on your back for at least 1 hour and will need to remain as still as possible as the technician will be using sharp tweezers around the eye area and needs optimal concentration. Most clients fall asleep when getting their lashes applied, this is completely fine and we encourage you to take this time to yourself for relaxation. The first step of the procedure is to cleanse your lashes and apply the under-eye pads. Applying the eye pads and tape is commonly the most uncomfortable step but its very quick and extremely necessary to ensure the glue doesn’t come into contact with your bottom lashes when applying the top extensions.

When coming for your lash appointment, ensure your lashes are as clean as possible, with no mascara or glue residue from strip lashes. Ensure you haven’t applied any oily products to your eye area in the last 24 hours prior to getting your new lashes, as excessive oil around the lashes will break down the bond of the glue or prevent the glue from bonding efficiently.

How you care for your lashes is a very important factor in how long they will last. The most important rule is not to wet your new lash extensions for a minimum of 24 hours after they’ve been applied, and this includes the steam in your shower. Don’t apply mascara to your lashes, this will stick them together, get them dirty and if the mascara contains oil-based ingredients it will break down the bond of the glue and make them come off faster. Avoid all oily products on your lashes and harsh makeup removers, only use gentle oil-free cleansers which are safe for extensions. Don’t rub your eyes or pull at the extensions. Try to sleep on your back or if you’re a side sleeper, be gentle with your lashes at night time and try to avoid squashing them into the pillow. Don’t use eyelash curlers on your extensions, as you risk snapping the extensions and your natural lashes. Excessive exercise and sweating can result in your lashes coming off sooner, so please avoid saunas or extremely hot showers as the heat can loosen the glue.
